Small renovation, big impact
Today I’m taking you along the first steps of our small bathroom renovation. We don’t have the means to gut this bathroom completely so we plan on keeping things where they are and making an impact with color, materials and the elements of design.
It was important to find a paint that was dark enough to hide the little fingerprints my son tends to leave behind on all of our walls. We set our hearts on this one called Soul Chocolate. I wanted something that would give us heavy contrast paired with the linen curtains that will cover the shower + tub combo in this small 5ft x 8ft space. This color is deep, rich and absolutely delicious to my eyes.
The existing matte black fixtures will be replaced with vintage gold light, faucet and finer details. To save us on cost we went with a faux marble tile flooring. This flooring will transition to the existing vinyl plank flooring in an ashy wood tone in the hall way; this has been here since the home was built. But I’d like to take a moment to appreciate that thin gold strip you see in the photo above. That is our transition strip! From marbled to wood I wanted to add a small touch of something that gave the look of a vintage revival hotel. This one is also peel a stick which makes it renter friendly, we want to inspire within smaller budgets. We want this project to be achievable and easy to duplicate or bounce off of.
Speaking of lights, I found the sweetest table top mini lamp on amazon. It is wireless, rechargeable AND dimmable. I think it was the perfect addition for the ambience I’m envisioning in this small bathroom. For more grounding elements we will add wood where possible (frames and trays) and if the space allows the propagation files housing clippings from my exotica. Again we have two pieces left to arrive before we are able to share before and after photos. But we can dream a little with each other over the detail and spotlight photos until then.
