Hitting snooze on the new year
The countdown and viewing of the famous Times Square ball drop, whether in person or on screen, brings in a flood of gym memberships and New Year’s resolutions. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle or to feel like you’re falling behind the fast pace of the world, but you are right where you belong. Don’t be afraid to pause and continue to rest; after all, it is still winter. It’s no wonder that some of us may feel stagnant in life when, truthfully, our bodies aren’t quite ready to get moving. Given the natural order and the rhythms of nature itself, to me, it’s clear that winter was made for rest.
While we won’t be sleeping all day like woodland creatures, I believe it’s important to practice slow living during this season and wait for spring, which my family considers the true beginning of the year. I’ve spent some time reflecting on how I wanted to revamp this page and website. Some of you may remember the old site with its darker, moodier aesthetic. Now, I’ve shifted my vision to something cleaner, with a nod to quiet luxury.
As the month comes to a close and spring draws near, I feel creativity circling around me—from decorating and creating mood boards to planning travel bucket lists and dreaming up fresh recipes. I’m excited to share this creative shift and overall life transformation with you. It feels like I’ve been editing for a decade to get to where I am now, and I’m sure many of you have experienced similar feelings. Here on the blog, you’ll have an insider look and a deeper connection with this journey.
